Cox Atomotive
Cox Automotive is a global leader in automotive services, providing a wide range of solutions including wholesale and retail vehicle solutions, financial services, and media.

Needs
Cox Automotive initiated a "Cloud First" strategy, focusing on migrating its applications and infrastructure to AWS. This involved developing an AWS cloud solution and a Cloud Service Catalogue, guided by a high-level strategy based on a Target Operating Model (TOM) with globally distributed cloud teams (India and US). Key tools included HOPEX for enterprise architecture and ServiceNow for ITSM and service cataloguing. The migration involved applications using Oracle and MS SQL Server databases, and an enterprise service bus strategy incorporating AWS API Gateway and Mulesoft.
Solution
The core of the solution was the migration of applications to the AWS cloud platform, utilizing services like Amazon EC2 for compute, Amazon RDS (for Oracle and MS SQL Server leveraging AWS licensing options) for databases, and Amazon S3 for storage. A Target Operating Model (TOM) was defined for the distributed cloud teams. HOPEX was used for enterprise architecture planning and visualizing the cloud landscape, while ServiceNow was implemented for ITSM and the Cloud Service Catalogue. Integration was handled by a combination of AWS API Gateway for cloud-native services and Mulesoft Anypoint Platform as an enterprise service bus (ESB) for broader application integration. For analytics on operational and cloud data, AWS QuickSight was leveraged.
Achievements
